what it does
| # | features | descriptions |
|---|---|---|
| formats | A fast, keyboard-driven viewer and editor for CSV, TSV, JSON, JSONL, YAML, TOML, Markdown, Parquet, Arrow, Excel, SQLite and DuckDB. | |
| nested data | JSON, YAML and TOML open as a browsable tree and are edited in place. | |
| databases | SQLite and DuckDB tables are edited and saved as one transaction, with the SQL shown first. | |
| large files | Through the MCP server, large CSV, Parquet, Arrow and JSONL files are streamed, not loaded whole. | |
| analysis | Filter, sort, group, pivot, join, compute columns with expressions and window functions, describe, chart. | |
| mcp server | Started with --mcp, an AI assistant sends operations and reads back computed numbers instead of estimating them. --mcp-write lets it change database rows, always as a plan shown before it runs. |

Cargo, Homebrew, AUR and APT install two commands: qrow and the short qrw.
Pre-built archives, with qrow alone: github.com/denisotree/qrow/releases
use with an ai assistant
claude code
claude mcp add -s user qrow -- qrow --mcpjson config Claude Desktop, Cursor, Zed…
{ "mcpServers": { "qrow": { "command": "/opt/homebrew/bin/qrow", "args": ["--mcp"] } } }Use the full path: a desktop app does not start from your shell.
coming from tuitab
tuitab was renamed to qrow in 0.12.0.
cargo
cargo uninstall tuitab && cargo install qrowhomebrew automatic
brew update && brew upgradeaur
Install qrow or qrow-bin; pacman offers to remove the old package.
apt
The old repository stays at 0.11.1. Remove it, then add the new one:
sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/tuitab.list /usr/share/keyrings/tuitab.gpgmcp
claude mcp remove tuitabThen add qrow as above, with --mcp-write if you had it. Permission rules follow the server's name: mcp__tuitab__tuitab_query → mcp__qrow__qrow_query, mcp__tuitab → mcp__qrow. In a JSON config, rename the key and the command to qrow.
